Lebanese Iftar @ Bengawan Jakarta


From sunset to 9 pm every evening at Bengawan, Keraton at The Plaza, July 7th to August 7th, 2013


Bengawan brings to you the cuisine of Lebanon throughout the holy month of Ramadan with the arrival of Guest Chef Ashraf El Sayed, specially flown in from Sharm El Sheikh by Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.

Iftar at Bengawan will be a fabulous showcase of the indigenous mix of European and Middle Eastern cooking concepts that make Lebanese cuisine exceptionally unique. Guests can explore the epicurean journey of exquisitely prepared hot and cold dishes, salads, soups, and an assortment of traditional Lebanese desserts. The journey continues as you indulge in the incredible taste of the finest meats at the live grill Shawarma, served with beautifully grilled mixed vegetables.

Assorted dates, soups including Arabic Lentil Soup, Bird Tongue Soup with Chicken, Vermicelli Soup with Lamb Meatand cold mezzah such as Hummus (dips served with pita bread), Baba Ghannouj (a Levantinedish of eggplant mashed and mixed with virgin olive oil and various seasonings), Fattush(bread salad made from pita bread combined with mixed greens and other vegetables), Tahini (a paste made from ground sesame seeds), and Moussaka (eggplant based layered with onions and minced lamb, then topped with white sauce) make a very good start to your evening meal after sunset.

Enjoy exotic main courses that include Okra Tagin (slow cooked dishes), KabsaDajaj (aromatic chicken served of exotic spices), Ablama (eggplant mixed minced meat), Lamb Chops, Torley (ground meats and sliced vegetables arranged in layers with seasonings), Dawood(meat balls with onion), and mixed grilled meats and vegetables from the live Shawarma grill. The sweet temptation corner is not to be missed as you can indulge in assorted French pastries, cakes,  Lebanese sweets, and fresh fruits.

Do not forget to sample the traditional Um-ali while you just sit back and relax in the comforts of Bengawan.

Complementing the tastes of Lebanon are traditional drinks such as Khoshaf (mixed fruits and almonds), Amar-el-Deen (apricot leather), Karkade (hibiscus flower), and Erk-sous (liquorice juice) served free-flowing throughout your meal.
